Office of Emergency Management

The Emergency Management Coordinator works directly under the County Judge. The coordinator is responsible for maintaining and exercising the following: Emergency Operations Plan for the county, Pandemic Flu Plan, Earthquake Plan, Court Security Plan, Continuity of County Operations Plan, and Interoperable Communications Plan and all these must be exercised in some phase each year which consists of 3 exercises to meet Homeland Security guidelines. The Coordinator is the main contact with FEMA and Arkansas Department of Emergency Management during major declared disasters, and work local disasters. The coordinator is the administrator of all the federal grants coming from State Homeland Security Program with lots of guidelines along with it. The county coordinator also signs off on all paperwork when citizens have safe rooms or storm shelters installed in the county to get up to a $1000.00 rebate from Arkansas Department of  Emergency Management. The Emergency Management coordinator works closely with all fire departments in the county and sets up classes to come into the county from ADEM for certified training hours which the coordinator and fire departments need.
